ICFC2017 Book Cover

The ICFC 2017 Book of Abstracts is now available for all researchers and ICFC2017 attendees to download, free of charge.

Registered delegates will receive a printed copy of the book upon check-in at the event, increasing the range of methods to learn about and share the latest scientific breakthroughs on Food Contaminants.

Printed copies of the ICFC2017 Book of Abstracts can be ordered by e-mail directly to the event secretariat (icfc2017 [at] ceb.uminho.pt) and will be shipped internationally. Each copy costs 15 EUR (excl. shipping costs).

Authors with accepted poster abstracts to be presented at ICFC 2017, should take into account the following instructions:

  • Recommended Poster dimensions are 120 mm (H) x 80 mm (W)
  • Posters shoudl be readable at a distance of 2 m, and therefore fonts below 14 pts should be avoided
  • Poster supports will be available at the Main Hall of the Venue (Building 02 of the campus - CP2).
  • Each support will hold a tag with the Poster number; authors must place each poster in the corresponding support.
  • Posters must be placed upon check-in at the conference venue and be removed only after the Closing Session on July 14
  • Local staff will help with poster placement and provide the necessary equipment for the task
  • Authors must be alongside their poster(s) during the session(s) of their respective posters


Printing Service

For interested authors, the Local Organizing Committee has available a Poster Printing Service, which alleviates the hassle of printing, carrying and placing the Poster in the conference venue. 

The Printing Service carries a fee of 33€ per poster (10% discount in 2 or more units). Printed in matte paper, at 140 g/m2, which is ideal for short-term display in well illuminated settings.

We invite the scientific community working on Food Safety to submit abstracts for oral (15 + 5 min discussion) or poster communications. All scientific contributions are subject to a peer review process, and authors selected for oral communications will be notified by May 29th. The submission of works concerning Food Chemical Contaminants are welcome.

The highest quality works may submit a full paper version until 30th September 2017 for a Food Additives & Contaminants: Part A issue that will be dedicated to the conference - Learn more.

Submit an abstract to ICFC 2017

Abstract Submission Details

  • Only the abstracts of participants with complete registration will be published on the book of abstracts;
  • Upon notification of acceptance, unregistered author must complete their registration in 10 business days;
  • One registered participant can submit no more than two abstracts;
  • Only abstracts submitted in English will be reviewed;
  • Only abstracts submitted via the online submission system will be considered;
  • Abstracts must not exceed 2000 characters (excluding the title, authors and affiliations);
  • Submissions should follow the instructions within the submission portal;
  • Abstracts should be original work;
  • An abstract must be submitted by the presenting author;
  • All abbreviations must be spelled out on first use;
  • Abstracts should be thoroughly checked for spelling and grammar.

A special issue of the jounal "Food Additives & Contaminants - Part A" will be dedicated to the Proceedings of ICFC 2017 – 2nd International Conference on Food Contaminants. Similar to other publications in these areas, authors can expect that:

  • All manuscripts will be peer-reviewed by a minimum of two independent referees
  • Only manuscripts recommended for publication can be accepted
  • It usually takes at least 4-6 weeks from submission to receiving feedback

All manuscripts must be submitted by September 30th 2017, using the 'Manuscript Central' website.
